2023-24 School Year Begins

With challenging weather and a record number of students, Stanstead College started off a successful and enthusiastic new school year last week.

Opening day enrollment stood at 284 students, with nearly half of them new to the school. These new students arrived on a hot September 6 and, after checking in, participated in orientation games, alternating between the air-conditioned gym and Philip Field. Returning students arrived on September 7, with classes beginning on Friday.

The weekend included a casino/carnival on Thursday evening, house cheers Friday, our first Prefect Cup competition Saturday, a welcome dance at the Pat Burns Arena in the evening, and fireworks to cap off the night.

Due to rain, our planned day at Park Ranch was postponed until the spring. Instead, students watched the prefects defeat faculty in volleyball and then enjoyed skating at the arena, games and movies on campus.

There are 134 girls and 150 boys. Of those, 206 students are boarders, with 78 day students. There are 169 Canadian students, 35 from the USA, 26 from Mexico, 37 from Asian countries and  17 from other countries.
There are 14 students in Grade 7; 25 in Grade 8; 48 in Grade 9; 58 in Grade 10; 70 in Grade 11; and 69 in Grade 12.
